UUMS Names New Executive Director!

The UUMS Board of Directors is proud to announce Rev. Sandra Campbell as the new Executive Director of Unity Urban Ministerial School.

Rev. Sandra has been serving as Interim Executive Director since April 2017, following the retirement of Dr. Catherine Thomas, who held the position since 2014.

Rev. Sandra graduated from Unity Urban Ministerial School in 2012. She was ordained by Unity Worldwide Ministries in 2013. She was the first student in the School’s online program.

Rev. Sandra joined the UUMS faculty shortly after ordination and served on the Board of Directors for 3 years, beginning as Secretary and later being elected to the position of Vice-President.

While serving as Interim Executive Director, she initiated several efforts that helped to move the School forward.

Rev. Sandra holds an Associate degree in Liberal Arts from Kansas City, Kansas Community College; a Bachelor’s degree in Communication/English from Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri; and a Master’s degree in Management from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.

Prior to completing her ministerial studies, Sandra was a manager with the Federal Aviation Administration. She retired in March 2012 after 42 years of career federal service.

Sandra serves on the Unity World Headquarters Board of Directors. She is Associate Minister at Unity Temple on the Plaza, where she facilitates the Metaphysical Bible Interpretation Study Group, Courageous Conversations Initiative, leads the WE-RISE mid-week service and co-leads Sunday services. She joined Unity in 1972 and has been a member of Unity Temple since 1980. She served several terms on the Temple’s board of directors, taught youth and adult education classes, co-founded the Temple Toastmasters Club, and sang in the chancel choir.

Sandra is an adjunct professor with Webster University, an accomplished speaker, writer, playwright, storyteller, and historical reenactor.

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Women in Aviation International, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc., and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She and her husband, Phil (retired-USA), live in Lee’s Summit, MO. They have two children and four grandchildren.
