Title: Assistant/Associate Minister

The Unity Center in San Diego is looking for an Assistant/Associate Minister to work alongside Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell to not only assist in all the usual areas of ministry, but to take the lead in developing a strong community outreach program for our ministry. As a community, The Unity Center is “spiritually progressive, socially engaged and radically inclusive.” Our focus is “transforming lives and healing our world.”

Title: Youth Village Program Leader

This part-time position oversees and guides The Unity Center’s Youth Village and supports The Center’s paid teaching staff who serve our youth from Nursery through High School

Monthly Stipend: $1,000

Skills and experience needed:

- love of children
- high energy and great people skills
- strong knowledge of Unity/New Thought principles
- experience creating and planning fun events for youth
- lesson preparation and organization
- curriculum development experience

Hours: approximately 10 hours a week

- Sundays 8:30-12:30; plus once a month lead/attend a short teachers meeting
- During the week approximately 6 hours a week

Sunday duties:

- Check in parents/children Sunday mornings
- Answer any questions parents or children might have on Sundays
- Welcome new families. Give quick tours, go over New Parent Packet.
- Teacher support (helping teachers with any supplies they need, child bathroom
breaks, assisting with upset children etc)

Admin/Weekday duties:

- Prep Sunday lessons for teachers using pre-designed Unity curriculum or curriculum devised by Youth Village Program Leader

- Coordinate volunteers to prepare items necessary for Sunday lesson for each classroom (craft supplies, books, coloring pages etc) as well as Sunday help in the classrooms.
- Organize and lead fun quarterly (or more) events for families to build connection and friendship.
- Organize periodic service projects for all classes to engage in either within The Unity Center or outside of The Unity Center
- Create fun fundraising projects/events for older classrooms (car washes, bake sales etc)
- Stay up-to-date with events offered through Southwest Regional Unity for Uniteens/Y.O.U. Work with Teen Lead to organize groups to attend any events or activities.
- Create and maintain a fun, positive and educational Youth Ed Department that children will love to attend each Sunday!
